How ultrasonic welding works?
Ultrasonic vibrations at a frequency from 20 to 40 kHz are created by a power generator which is supplied with the normal mains current at 50 Hz.
A converter then changes the high-frequency vibrations, coming from the generator, into mechanical vibrations - comparable to a extremely fast micro hammering.
The constant amplitude produced by the converter is changed or moved through the booster, according to the needs of the application.
Finally, the sonotrode transmits the high-frequency vibration energy to the welding surface.
Under the influence of the pressure applied on the plastic components, the vibrations are converted into heat, thanks to the frictional movement of the surfaces on their contact point and the absorption of the ultrasonic waves.
The material of both parties melts, forming almost homogeneous high strenght joints.
The molten material and the resultant force of connection can be positively influenced by adjusting the amplitude or the applied force.
