Automobile Door Panel Welding

Automobile doors are assembled inside the car with panels in PP -PC or ABS with specific designs.

The non-visible parts are composed of a number of welding points (pins) which may vary depending on the car and the complexity of the design.

Normally, there are 90 to 120 welding points per panel and they are divided into actual welding points and rivets that have the characteristic “mushroom shape” head.
The ultrasonic assembly operations are carried out on complex production lines with multi-robots, Cartesian or Anthropomorphic, or simply with pneumatic handling systems of the ultrasonic components.

The ultrasonic components used can have different frequencies, from 30 to 35 kHz and the sonotrodes are generally made of titanium. Anti-wear treatments are often used with tungsten carbide or BALINIT.

Depending on the spacing between the points and their positioning on the same plane, single or full wave sonotrodes are used, composed by a “mother” and a number of “tips” determined by the number of points to be welded.
