The carbon fiber and fiberglass cutting field has always been delicate due to the elevated corrosiveness of the products, which forces the end user to change several blades per hour, thus exponentially increasing production costs.
To solve this issue, SONIC ITALIA has developed a new solution which works at 20, 30 and 35 kHz, allowing the cutting of carbon fiber and fiberglass much faster than a normal mechanical blade using ultrasonics. The titanium sonotrodes are designed to accommodate a hardened steel blade with customizable sizes depending on the application and frequency of use which, once mounted, vibrates. Once utilized completely, the blade can be easily replaced with a new one.
The advantages of using an ultrasonic system on carbon fiber and fiberglass cutting process compared to the traditional system are the increased speeds and cleanliness of the cuts. This ultrasonic solution is ideal in working situations with 3/5 axis robotic arms.
