Uses and benefits of the ultrasonic selvedge slitting
Ultrasonic slitting is a technique, where you cleanly cut and seal the edges of synthetic or blended fabrics, eliminating the disadvantages of hot wire or rotating knives. Fraying, unraveling, or beading along the cut edge is thereby eliminated.
The structures for ultrasonic cutting are available in 20 kHz and 40 kHz versions with the possibility of costomize them.
The counter wheel placed on the structure can be also customized, according to the customer' s needs.
How ultrasonic slitting works
The ultrasonic slitter is designed for continuous ultrasonic slitting and edge sealing of thermoplastic films, knitted, woven and nonwoven materials such as nylon, polyester, polypropylene, acrylics and synthetic blends. The ultrasonic slitting process prevents unraveling of knitted or woven material by sealing the slit edge with vibratory energy. The unit is installed on looms, winders and unwinders or re-rolls, and can be adapted for traverse slitting. A containment structure is available for customized installations when the slitter is part of an automated setup.
The containment structure includes the air cylinder, springs, anvil and associated tools (horn, booster, anvil, and cooling requirements are determined by the application).
